Vacation Rental Marketplace Changes

The Vacation Rental Industry keeps changing. The mix of rent-by-owner properties and professionally managed properties makes for an interesting marketplace environment. Here's one of the discussions that hits close to Perdido Key recently. Government officials in Santa Rosa (Florida) will consider a proposal by Airbnb to collect Bed Tax directly from customers who book area vacation rentals listed on the platform. It is believed the effort will save time and money because county employees will no longer have to monitor area Airbnb listings to make sure owners are collecting taxes. Airbnb has similar agreements allowing it to collect local tourist development taxes in 29 additional destinations the largest of which are St. Petersburg and Orlando.  Source / Airbnb listings in Florida
