A Fantastic Trip

We absolutely loved our stay at the Purple Parrot! Hakuna Matata was a great condo! The bright colors and comfortable accommodations were perfect! Johnson Beach was amazing and definitely the highlight of the trip. The $8 weekly pass was well worth the money! The beach was gorgeous! We will definitely be returning to Perdido Key and the Purple Parrot Resort!

Beautifully appointed condo - Lovely stay

immaculately clean! Lovely decor, You actually have the entire house not just a condo. Very large kitchen (I made Christmas dinner in it!) One reminder, when you grocery shop add garbage bags, paper towels and dawn to your shopping list. Only one garbage bag was provided. The washing machine and dryer are full size and conveniently located on the first floor near the kitchen. There was a bread machine in the kitchen too and it was fun to make homemade bread in (I have always wanted to try one of those out!)

I was born in Pensacola, now live in Ocala Fl, But I bring my family home to visit every year. We enjoyed the place so much, it was like being at home. Quiet, clean and everything we needed. Thank you for making our stay so nice. We will make sure to return.

Wonderfully relaxing!

What a great condo! It's actually more like a townhouse - very spacious! All of the rooms are very nicely decorated. My husband actually had me look up the bedspread online because he wants to buy it! The location is not too far from the beach. I'm from the area so I know where the little free public beach access areas are located, but I would recommend getting a week pass for $8 at the Gulf Islands National Seashore (Johnson's Beach). Well worth the cost as they have much nicer facilities! The condo is also within a good distance to the Naval air Station where the Blue angels perform free practice shows each Tuesday and Wednesday. As far as amenities, the pool areas aren't as nice as I originally thought. The 'tiki bar' is not open and people were drinking, talking very loud and smoking cigarettes, which does not make for a relaxing experience. Please also note that the pool is very shallow. The only thing that is keeping me from giving the condo itself 5 stars is the condition of the bath towels (really, really need to be replaced, ) and the kitchen non-stick skillets (all of the 'non stick' surfaces are peeling off...can't cook in them). The condo is very quiet and stayed amazingly cool considering what the temperatures were. The staff were always quite helpful when I called with a request or questions.

The people at the rental company were freindly and accomodating. The home was sooo much better than the high rises; We prefer that. The location, while not on the beach, was great for shoping and resturants.

Very relaxing!

The toliet in the larger bedroom continued to run after being flushed. We had to raise the handle manually to get it to stop. Also there was a "raccoon hole" in the front porch screen when we arrived. Both of these were no problem...just wanted to make you aware of them. The bed in the large bedroom was so comfortable...I wanted to take it home with me! We had everything we needed for our short stay. The rooms are beautiful...we had a great time in the lovely house. I would not recommend this house for older people. The tub was very high. A little difficult getting in and out.

Great House - Tiki Bar and Pool Questionable

Reviewed on Sunday, July 10, 2011

We loved the Hakuna Matata 23C home. It was nicely decorated and had plenty of room for our family of four. We would have loved a tv in the both rooms upstairs, but overall fantastic accommodations in the home. The staff in the rental office was friendly and helpful, albeit difficult to reach by phone the morning of our trip. I kept receiving a message to call back later and after several attempts, finally spoke to a person to arrange our late check in. The pool was not as large as it appeared to me in pictures. Of course it is hard to tell how big a pool is from pictures. We were very surprised to see a very large sign at the entrance stating "open to the public." I was not always comfortable with the "public guests" at the pool and bar and the adult atmosphere that created for my children. Many of the afternoon and evening guests appeared unclean and very intoxicated. Dreadlocks and tatoos seemed to be the common theme among patrons. I also did not like not being able to bring water or a juice box to the pool for my children. All food and drinks had to be purchased from the bar. The pool was definitely not family friendly and for that reason, we will probably not stay at this resort again.

Our stay at Purple Parrot

The pool area is really nice, although the people working in the bar area could have been friendlier. I brought my own water to the bar b/c I am breastfeeding and didn't want to buy any alcoholic drinks. They made me pour it out. We couldn't even bring our baby food to the pool area b/c they wanted us to buy all our food and drinks from the bar. This just made our stay so much more inconvenient.

A great get-away!

We really enjoyed our time at the Purple Parrot Resort and specifically the Hakuna Matada beach house. It was very nice and clean and very comfortable. We will definitely be coming back again! It was the perfect location to enjoy our visit to Pensacola and the Naval aviation Museum. Thanks for the great time and great place to rest our heads.

We stayed at Hakuna Matata for a week in april. The weather was great and the accommodations were very clean, comfortable and well maintained. The pool area was also very nice, and we had a blast hanging out with our 11 year old son. Perdido's beaches are also very clean and beautiful, and we will be back again!

What a beautiful, clean, and family friendly vacation home

Reviewed on Monday, June 28, 2010

The vacation home was very clean and well decorated. The kitchen was well equipped, we enjoyed the games that were location in the TV cabinet, and we also enjoyed the screened in porch. What a great place to escape for a week long vacation. The pool was a big plus because it was very kid friendly as it was a very big and shallow pool. We were not bothered by others and we had complete privacy during our stay.

When we entered the property, the lights and air were on. The place simply said, "Welcome Home." The management is outstanding. The only problem we encountered was the shower. Don't be afraid to ask JD to give you a demonstration, if needed. I look forward to returning.

My wife and I traveled with 2 friends to this resort. Excellent. Check-in very easy and very pleased with accomodations. The pool is out of pools beautiful. Five minutes from everything. Johnson beach a must, 8 dollars per car load per week, a value. We rented a pontoon boat from Wallaces in Orange beach (4 miles away) and caught sail catfish and sea trout. We had Florida licenses and had to find Florida waters to fish. Over all a very positive , relaxing time. Will recommond to others and we will return.

Best beach - best place to stay!

Reviewed on Wednesday, May 12, 2010

The Purple Parrot is the ideal place! Individual condos grouped around a large pool, the Tiki Bar, fitness center, indoor pool and a very friendly and helpful office staff. Best part was you are just around the corner from the best beach that I have ever seen. Its just a short drive to the grocery store and great local restaurants. The center of Gulf Shores is just 30 minutes away, a fun place to visit but it was so nice to come "home" to the serenity of the Purple Parrot.

My husband and daughter joined me for a family birthday. We stayed at the Hakuna Matata 23C, as this was one of the wireless unite,s as my daughter is in college. The resort management was wonderful, they went out of there way to make everything like you were in your own home. Our condo was very nice, the decorating was more than I expected. The beds could do for a upgrade, but maybe we are just used to our tempur-pedic. Over all I would very much recommend this resort and this condo. If we all come as a family again, we will be staying at the Purple Parrot.

Loved it & will do it again!

I found out about this option a couple of days beforfe my trip and I just loved it! The management folks were so friendly and helpful. I had a late night checkin and I was grateful for exact information that allowed us to arrive after business hours. The pictures don't do the place justice...it's better! Hakuna Matata was so clean and well equipped with everything we needed....even a crock pot that allowed our dinner to cook while we were at the beach. Our family made wonderful memories there. We will return. I highly recommend the Purple Parrot and Hakuna Matata! Truely there were no worries!

Wonderful Weekend

We had wonderful service and the home was very nice and CLEAN. We had everything we needed! The tiki bar and pool area were very nice. We liked having the option of hte pool area since this location is not directly on the beach. The only improvement I would recommend is making these (or at least some of them) properties pet friendly. Finding another rental property that allows pets is the only thing that would keep me from coming back to the Purple Parrot.

It was a colorful cozy house, we had a family of 6 with 4 adults and 2 kids and the place was very quiet and kid friendly resort. The staff was very nice and helpful and let us check in early as we drove in from Texas and arrived early. Pool was clean and relaxing and shallow and deep enough for adults and kids to enjoy. The beach was close, had to drive there, but less than 2 min away. The water was not blue, like you would think of FL to be, but it was so close to Gulf Shores, AL. The sand was beautiful and I would recommend this place to anyone w/kids or just for a cheap vacation!!

This was our second stay and found this stay just as nice as the first. The units will accommodate four adults in the bedrooms and a few kids downstairs. I would highly recommend for either a beach (just a couple of mile away) vacation or to visit family. A couple of things you need to know: Ask for additional towels and bring your won beach towels. Also bring toilet paper, paper towels and kleenex. They only allow six arm bands per unit, which have to be worn at the pool. The pool is beautiful and has it's own bar. All drinks poolside must be bought from the bar, although we saw many people without arm bands and with there own drinks of all kinds. So the rules are a little iffy. Only one bedroom had a TV and it was not the one we stay in! We will stay their again.

My brother and his family stay in your facilities twice a year and love it. They have 5 children and rave about it's family friendliness and many amenities in the condo itself and at the resort. We have 3 children and agree that this resort is very family friendly. I was impressed with how well the kitchen was stocked with every day necessities and more. Having an indoor and outdoor pool was so great considering it was a little cool. The kids did not have to miss out on the fun. We loved our stay there and would definitely recommend it to our friends and family.

This unit had Pottery Barn-type furnishings and was perfect on our vacation. We've stayed in high-rise condos in the past. This unit offers more room and than most high rise condos and has a very "new" feel. John at Purple Parrot is most helpful which was particularly comforting because we were tracking Hurricane Fay during our stay--which didn't ultimately affect Perdido, but could have. It's nice to have an on-site personal point of contact for questions about restaurants and excursions. The beach is a quick drive away and we enjoyed the onsite amenities, as well. We'll definately be back.

The manager was super, he even brought me fishing gear that showed up on the porch by sun up, that doesn't happen everywhere. We would recommend you all any time! Thank you for running a great establishment.
