Perdido Key Inclement Weather Update 10/08/2018

As you may already be aware, the National Weather Service and generally everyone along the gulf coast has been monitoring the storm out in the Gulf. We sent out a correspondence yesterday and wanted to follow up again today. According to the National Hurricane Center, our area is currently under a hurricane watch with landfall expected somewhere near Panama City Beach. see https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/graphics_at4.shtml?cone#contents
Please continue to monitor the weather closely over the next 72 hours.

We would like reiterate that, currently, we're not fearful that it will have much impact on our area, however, we've likely been through storms many more times than most of our vacationers. In order to prepare for the possibility of wind gusts in our area, if you're going to be here over the next couple days, it would be greatly appreciated if you could bring in anything lightweight from the balcony and keep it inside until Thursday when the storm has moved further northeast. As bringing in the deck furniture is something we're responsible for overseeing, if you are unable do bring it inside, please call(850-492-9999) or email([email protected]) our office today and we will gladly send one of our team members over. Our office will be closed at 6pm today and remain closed on Wednesday, but we expect to reopen Thursday morning at 8am as usual.

Things to know about inclement weather protocols for vacation rental properties:

1. If the property has storm shutters, they must remain until the weather has passed for at least 24 hours.
2. If the property has a balcony, lightweight items such as furniture or decor must come inside until the weather has passed.
3. Your safety is our priority, but property managers do not provide advice on whether to stay or leave. While our risk tolerance is likely higher than our vacationers, it is up to each individual person to make a judgement call which they feel comfortable with in regards to stay or leave the area.
4. Gates to condo complexes are typically left open during inclement weather.
5. If there is a leak or damage which arises during inclement weather, we will have to wait until the weather has passed before dispatching a repair person.
6. Trip insurance provides refunds for any days when a mandatory evacuation is in place, but only for those days.
7. Bridges are temporarily closed when winds are over 39 miles per hour.
8. If there is a power outage, please report it to Gulf Power at 800-487-6937 and our office 850-492-9999.

We're sending you this information as a precaution. Again, we're currently not fearful that this will have much impact on our area. Hopefully, that remains the case!
We will be making our rounds to the vacant properties, as well as those who have guests which have let us know that they are unable to bring in deck furniture themselves, throughout the day today. Please do not be alarmed if one of our team members comes to check on you and the property.
