Nice condo in tired buiding

The location of this condo is great. The beach is great. The actual unit is great minus the master slider that did not open and has not for quite some time evidently. Building and ground maintenance is not very good. Upgrades are definitely needed, but we didn't really care as we spent most of the time in the unit and on the beach.
The property mgmt company was easy to speak with, but they don't follow through. I let them know about the slider being broken - does not open (as did a former guest from their reviews) and that it was a safety issue. They said they would fix it ASAP, but never came by or followed up.
Overall for the price, I felt it was a good value. Couldn't give it 5* due to comments above.

Worst stay in 20 years

Beach colony east 14 B issues:
We have been coming to Perdido Key, much of that spent at Beach Colony, for 20 years and have never complained about our stays. In our opinion, Beach Colony in general has declined with entry way tiles broken (marked with orange cones) and beach access gate no longer functional. Again, we aren’t usual complainers. We just hope this either helps the property management or owners to be aware so they can realize and repair issues, or if not, others may be aware and make an informed decision prior to booking. Naturally there have been imperfections previously but nothing of this level. I like to leave glowing reviews because I get it that this is someone’s home and want to be appreciative.
This was the worst stay we’ve ever had. We booked our stay through VRBO, the property was managed by Perdido Key Resort Management. I believe this is the first time dealing with this particular property management.
1. Upon arrival at 3:40 I attempted to check the lock box that held our check in information, knowing that check in was at 4pm. A woman (Chris) very excitedly came out of the building saying that my check in instructions were very clear to check in after 4pm. I stated I understood, not realizing the exact time and thinking by the time we arrived at the property it would be 4pm or after. I requested the address so I could arrange a grocery delivery while we waited for 4pm. She stated she was preparing 30 rentals and couldn’t help me I would need to wait. Ok, I thought, nice unfriendly greeting after a 10 hour plus trip. I asked her name and went back to my car to wait out the remaining 15 minutes. Of note I had also sent a message through the VRBO asking the same question without any response. It isn’t like we could have entered the unit without the key.
2. Upon arrival of the unit we found it very dirty. Food on the floors and in dishes inside the cabinets. Worst of all was that all of our beds had sand in them, which meant they hadn’t been changed from the last guests! We spent our first evening and half of the next morning cleaning. Afterwards we went to the rental management to sign the required paperwork, dreading this because of the poor treatment experienced upon arrival. That same woman was welcoming and had the nerve to act like all had been well. Another woman at the desk was very nice, refunding our cleaning amount and even calling to say she had extra linens arriving soon. She also sent a maintenance person to check our bed as it was very uncomfortable. I wasn’t certain why a maintenance was called.
3. The maintenance man said nothing was amiss with the bed and for some reason took off our closet door, leaving without putting it back. Another closet door fell off the brackets when we tried to open it and we were unable to reattach either. We called the resort management to report the issues and were told that they were “backed up” and may not get to it during our stay.
4. The unit furniture was uncomfortable. The balcony furniture was likewise, shabby with someone previously having folded up a piece of paper to balance the table leg. Nothing was nice about this unit. Dirty, outdated furnishings.
5. The balcony door was near impossible to open. We found the balcony handle placed in a bedside table. That would have been helpful to use. My 81 year old mother could not open the door at all.
6. The day before the air conditioner stopped working. It was miserable trying to pack up. We again called the property management to report the issue. We did not leave the balcony door open during our stay knowing this can cause issues with air conditioning.
7. The temperature display on the oven is unreadable.

We had a wonderful time! PKRM were awesome to work with. The condo we stayed in was awesome as well.
