This was our first visit in 16-17 years and everything was great from the time we arrived on May 5th until the night and the morning of our departure. I noticed some bugs or some type of insect in the kitchen and took care of getting those disposed of quickly. The next morning these same critters were in the smaller bedroom and bathroom- more than what was in the kitchen the night before. Eeeeeekkkkkkk. I do not do well with critters ??

A decade of winters at Purple Parrot
by Harry
★★★★★ 5 of 5
This is our 11th three-month winter stay at Purple Parrot Resort. It was wonderful as usual. We enjoy the Pensacola area and have thought of it as our second home. The office staff do an outstanding job of seeing to our needs, and are always pleasant and helpful.
The only bummer is the fact that the rental rate quoted for our usual January, February and March stay for next year (2023) increased 71% !
We are on a fixed income as seniors and that means that we can not afford to stay here next year. A sad end to a great run.

Sunshine Cottage
★★★★★ 5 of 5
First, let me start by saying this was our first family vacation so we didn’t know what to expect. The Purple Parrot exceeded our expectations. The Sunshine Cottage was beautiful. We forgot to bring certain items and to our surprise it was already furnished. The decor around the house was beachy and beautiful. It was also a very clean and well maintained cottage. The weather wasn’t on our side with the cooler temperatures but with the indoor heated pool and spa it didn’t stop the fun. The live band was great and it was a great friendly atmosphere. We didn’t try the food at the grill because we went out to eat for the most part because Perdido Key has amazing restaurants. We really enjoyed our stay and are already planning a future trip in the warmer months. Thank you for a great vacation!

I love the Perdido Key, Orange Beach, Gulf Shores area! It has lots do and many good restaurants, but is not extremely developed like other vacation destinations. This is one of my top places to vacation.

Family Fun for the Fourth!
★★★★★ 5 of 5
We had never heard of Perdido Key, but it is one of the nicest places to visit in Florida. The city was small, but the Beaches were perfect and ideal for families. Plenty of space and not commercialized. Our condo was perfectly located near everything. It was worth our 7-hour drive from Tennessee. Awesome Independence Day on the Beach with fireworks blazing the sky. We will be back! ??????????????

We had a wonderful time at the Purple Parrot. Cottage was great. Loved the view from back balcony, screened porch and the service. Pools were fantastic. My three year old grandchild loved it. We did too. Beach is just minutes away. Great stay if you are tired of high rise condos. By the way, this cottage was quiet - great for reading! We will be back...

We love the villa and enjoyed the privacy.. A few things here and there which can be overlooked and didn't matter much. The villa was well equipped with utensils for cooking which was a plus for us.. We enjoyed our stay at this place and will return for sure !!

We had a WONDERFUL time! The condo could use a little TLC, the bedding is old, carpets are very dirty, kitchen utensils were few and far between, rips in the furniture. The Perdido staff was great with the small concerns that we did have, I couldn't have asked for more from them.
The amenities at the resort were top notch. There was a lot to do in the area, we loved Alligator Alley, the lighthouse and the naval aviation museum but most of all we loved the pool! We will be back for sure!

We just want to say Thank You for a a wonderful stay. The condo was like nothing we had ever experienced. This was a home away from home. The only thing we had a concern for was the parking. Not quite enough parking to accomedate your guest and the wood line behind the condo. Other than these small minor things, were planning another trip in the near future with more people to experience what we did.

We recently drove 14 hours from Missouri to Predido key with my children for a family vacation during spring break.
The resort area is very nice and clean. Indoor and outdoor pools, hot tub, gated community, fishing gear to borrow. Our condo was in the very back so when we arrived every night around 10 all the parking places were taken close to our condo. We ended up parking by the indoor pool on the far side because it was the only thing available. Assigned parking would be nice just to make sure at least 1 vehicle to each condo gets a close parking place.
Our Condo was very clean and welcoming. There was a couple things I didnt care for such as the matresses were harder then rocks. We actually ended up sleeping on the couch and floor after our first night. Also the comforters in the 2 bed, bedroom was ripped and torn. There wasn't any extra blankets just enough for each bed. Other then those details the condo was great. The beds being hard is very important though. When your on vacation you want to sleep good to feel refreshed and we slept horribly. O yea the alarm clock in the main bed was also broken.
This won't stop us from booking later in the year just next time we will try a different condo.

Excellent place to stay
★★★★★ 5 of 5
We had an absolutely fantastic time at The Purple Parrot. We came for a week to visit our son at NaS. The location was 10 minutes from the back gate making visitation easy. We were also close to Johnson Beach and a short drive to Pensacola Beach. One of our nicest surprises was how close we were to the Gulf Shores and all of the activities there. We found the Gulf shores much nicer than Pensacola Beach itself. The Purple Parrot had everything we wanted and more. Both the indoor and outdoor pools were fantastic and the hours of operation were great. We did a late check in with no problem and check out was so easy. The staff at The Purple Parrot was always more than willing to help. The staff at Perdido Key Resort Management went above and beyond to help us enjoy our stay. Our experience with The Purple Parrot and Perdido Key Resort management was one of the best experiences we have ever had. I would highly recommend both of them to anyone.

Nice proximity to the beach...
★★★☆☆ 3 of 5
The condo was a little on the 'dog eared' side. Considering all the people that come in/out with sandy feet, I'm sure it is hard to keep perfect! There were no extra rolls of t.p., no extra trash bags (and the mgmt wants you to empty all your trash the last day...), no dish detergent to clean up (just the dishwasher soap), and no soap for the washer/dryer. We did have to kill a few, very large roaches as well!!! The many trees surrounding the property are lovely, but I'm sure full of bugs! The unit was comfortable for four people, I think it would have been tough with many more... It meet our needs at a good price.

Thanks for the review. Glad the family had a good time. The condos are setup with a roll of toilet paper in each of the bathrooms as well as a bar of soap to get you started. We wouldn't want anyone to arrive and not have those essentials. Beyond the start-up supply, the guests must bring their own consumables. The vacation home is meant to be like your own - guests don't have to bring bed linens, bath linens, cookware, bake ware or other items of the like which are not consumables. There is a green belt around the resort and if you leave the doors or windows open, yes, you may have a visitor however most condos have a screened in lower deck to aid in preventing mosquitoes or other bugs. I agree that a 2BR is just right for a group of 4. Families of 5 or 6 with small children may find that it is just right as well. More than 4 adults or more than 6 people total should look into a 3BR condo. Thanks again. Kindest Regards, JD Hallam PKRM Rental Manager

Adequate accommodations. Some problems with things not working, like TV remotes, DVD player, light bulbs missing or burnt out. Unit was a little worn.
Manager Reply
Thanks for the good feedback. I checked the remotes and we did need to replace batteries in one of them. Sorry about the inconvenience. The DVD players seemed to work fine after changing the TV input to video. The housekeeping went through the unit and, of the 5 lamps in this two story condo, found two which needed a new bulb. We keep extras in the unit above the stove for emergencies. I apologize that they were not caught during the previous cleaning as they likely did not think to try and turn them on during the daylight hours. I have added this to their checklist to help prevent it in the future. I trust that since it was not mentioned, aside from a couple light bulbs and batteries, that you enjoyed your time at the resort and in Perdido Key. If I missed anything please let me know as we want to work to ensure that all our guests have a great time while staying with us here in Perdido Key! Kindest Regards, JD Hallam PKRM Rental Manager

Relaxing and off the beaten path
★★★★☆ 4 of 5
We found the unit we stayed in to be exactly as described, and the management staff (J.D.)was extremely helpful and professional in every way. The closest beach is a short drive away (less than 3 minutes), and the large, pleasant, onsite pool is nicely equiped with lounge chairs. Although we never purchased anything from the onsite Tiki bar - it appeared to be adequately equiped.

Best Relaxing Vacation we have had
★★★★★ 5 of 5
Super close to the most beautiful beaches that we have seen. NOT crowded, plenty of room on the beaches to be around a few folks... or to go somewhere where the beach is all yours. Quick drive to the Navy base where the Blue Angels are, FREE Museum, excellent history lesson for kids and adults. Our condo was just like the pictures show. Cute, warm, and roomy. You will not be disappointed by renting this unit. You do have to walk a bit further than the other units, but not too far, and it is worth it to have the quiet... The pool is nice, wish it had a deeper end than 5 foot, but the waterfall makes up for that. A little disappointed that you could not bring your own adult beverages to the pool, you had to purchase them at the Tiki Bar...but overall we give the Purple Parrot and the staff an A+... you will not regret renting this unit or staying on this island.

Traveling with kids!
★★★★☆ 4 of 5
Spring Break Blast! Recommended for families! We loved staying at this house! The house was very clean although some outside repair work was needed. We loved the indoor pool and dry sauna! It was cold the first two days so we used it a lot. The management was helpful with any questions. The Tiki Hut was very friendly to the kids and the outdoor pool was the resort atmosphere we needed. The only thing I would change was that we needed to bring extra toiletries and the parking was a little bit of a walk with heavy luggage. We look forward to our next stay!

a little getaway
★★★★★ 5 of 5
We had driven by the Purple Parrot resort several times and thought what a great getaway it would be yet in town. We needed to be close enough to let the dog out but getaway like in the Carribean. The property was great. Plenty of room for our children. Beautifully decorated. Separate baths for all to have privacy. Washer and dryer was a plus although we didn't need them.
